ADA451x: Precision Op Amp - Versatile for Various Applications

    Jun 26 2024

There are often tradeoffs that come with picking a precision op amp for signal chain design. For example, an op amp that has standout voltage offset and drift specs will be an excellent choice for DC precision and accuracy, but that same op amp might not have the best AC performance characteristics, thereby limiting its usage in higher bandwidth designs. The ADA451x family of op amps aims to close this performance gap and offers a balanced precision performance across both DC and AC parameters to achieve overall system accuracy, low signal distortion and fast processing.

This video demonstrates the versatility of the ADA451x family of precision op amps through 4 different demos of the ADA4510-2 being used in/for - an active filter, driving a capacitive load, a transimpedance amplifier and mux compatibility. More specifically, we will dive into the MUX compatibility feature by visually demonstrating the difference between what MUX compatible inputs and non-MUX compatible inputs look like in the time domain. This feature is especially useful in precision signal chains that take in signals from a variety of different input signal sources and sensors that switch at high speeds.
