EVAL-KW4503Z

ADA4510-2 Stability + LED carrier KWIK Demo Board

Features and Benefits

  • Enables stability analysis of ADA4510-2 configured as a Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA) and a unity gain follower driving a capacitive load.
  • Easy connection to ADALM2000

Product Details

The EVAL-KW4503Z is a know-how with integrated knowledge (KWIK) demonstration board designed to familiarize its users how to predict, measure, and simulate the stability and phase margin of an operational amplifier (op amp). It enables the stability analysis of the ADA4510-2 configured as a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) and a unity gain follower driving a capacitive load.

The EVAL-KW4503Z uses the ADA4510-2, which is a dual-channel, 40 V, high-precision, low input bias current, low offset voltage, low offset voltage drift, low noise, rail-to-rail input, and output operational amplifier that can be used at any point of the signal chain, including sensing, conditioning, and output drive. With the use of Analog Devices, Inc.'s proprietary DigiTrim™ technique, the ADA4510-2 achieves best-in-class low offset drift (±70 nV/°C typical, ±500 nV/°C maximum) and low offset voltage (±5 μV typical, ±20 μV maximum), simplifying temperature calibrations in precision designs. The ADA4510-2 is specified from −40°C to +85°C and −40°C to +125°C, and is available in an 8-lead, SOIC_N.

The EVAL-KW4503Z uses one channel of the ADA4510-2 for the TIA stability KWIK demo, which provides a hands-on platform allowing the user to select from three compensation options: a marginally stable design, a design with 45° phase margin, and a design with >70° of phase margin using the ADA4510 precision CMOS amplifier.

The EVAL-KW4503Z uses the other channel of the ADA4510-2 for the capacitive load stability KWIK demo, which provides a hands-on platform showing how to stabilize a precision, 10 MHz op amp driving a 1nF capacitive load.

Both the TIA demo and capacitive load demo are combined into a single, easy-to-use board that plugs directly into the ADALM2000.

  • Evaluates low power, low noise, and zero-drift amplifiers
  • Accommodates 5-lead TSOT, 8-lead SOIC, and 8-lead MSOP packages
  • Easy plugin into ADALM2000 Active learning module

Product Details

The EVAL-KW4502Z is a demonstration board for evaluating the low-frequency noise of three general operational amplifiers (op amp): (1) low power op amp, (2) low noise, bipolar op amp, and (3) low noise, zero drift op amp.

The EVAL-KW4502Z uses ADA4510-2 which is a dual-channel, 40 V, high precision, low input bias current, low offset voltage, low offset voltage drift, low noise, rail-to-rail input and output operational amplifier that can be used at any point of the signal chain, including sensing, conditioning, and output drive. More importantly, it can operate in low voltage supplies as +/-5V that can be provided by the ADALM2000 Active Learning Module.

The EVAL-KW4502Z accommodates LT1782, ADA4077, and ADA4522 in a thin small outline transistor (TSOT), standard small outline package (SOIC), and mini small outline package (MSOP), respectively.

Full specifications on the LT1782, ADA4077, and ADA4522 are available on the Analog Devices, Inc. website.

This user guide is designed to aid in the evaluation of the ADA4510-2. The EVAL-ADA4510-2ARZ and EVALADA4510-2ARMZ are evaluation boards used to test the ADA4510-2, a dual-channel, low input bias current amplifier that comes in an 8‑lead, standard small outline package (SOIC_N) and in a mini small outline package (MSOP). The EVAL-ADA4510-2ARZ and the EVAL-ADA4510-2ARMZ are hereafter referred to as the ADA4510-2 evaluation board in this user guide. The design of this evaluation board emphasizes simplicity and ease of use. Provisions are available on the board to interface easily to test equipment.

The ADA4510-2 evaluation board uses surface-mount components (SMT) in case size 0603, except for bypass capacitors and termination resistors. The ADA4510-2 evaluation board features a variety of unpopulated resistor and capacitor footprints that provide the user with multiple choices and extensive flexibility for different application circuits.

The evaluation board has provisions for photodiode sensors that allow for easy configuration of a transimpedance amplifier (TIA). The layout is optimized with provisions for guarding to ensure low leakage and low parasitic capacitance for TIA applications.

Additionally, the evaluation board has provisions to build different types of filters. For selecting specific component values and designing filters, refer to https://tools.analog.com/en/filterwizard/.

Product Details

EVAL-KW4501Z demonstration board evaluates and differentiates the integrated noise of a 2-channel operational amplifier. Both channels have a default gain of G = -1000, and each channel has a different combination of resistor values.

See Figure 1in user guide for the circuit configuration of each channel; the resistor values are set as follows: (1) RF = 1MΩ and RG = 1kΩ for Channel A; and (2) RF = 10kΩ and RG = 10Ω for Channel B.

The EVAL-KW4501Z is a companion board to the Integrated Noise KWIK Lecture and Lab Training Module. It is part of the KWIK Demo Board family, a series of instructional and demonstrative evaluation boards that can be directly plugged into the ADALM2000, Analog Devices Inc.’s portable, USB-powered, software-defined test and measurement instrument.

The ADA4510-2, the EVAL-KW4501Z’s featured IC, is a dual-channel, high-precision, low-offset voltage, low-noise, rail-to-rail input, and output operational amplifier.
