I/O Port Expanders

Key-Switch Controllers

Dedicated key-switch controllers from Analog Devices offer a low EMI solution for smartphone applications, in many cases eliminating the need for additional EMI filtering. Using low EMI key-switch controller devices can improve overall system design and lower cost.

Mobile I/O Expander and Keypad Controller

Analog Devices' family of mobile I/O expanders are ideal for smartphone designs and portable devices that require a large extended keypad and/or expanded I/Os such as inventory scanners, medical equipment, and meter readers. Microprocessors in portable systems are GPIO constrained due to the number of functions they must interface with and control. They are also power hungry, making them inefficient for debouncing, polling, and key press scanning algorithms. ADI’s family of mobile I/O expanders offloads key scan and GPIO functions from the CPU, freeing up the processor for higher priority functions while saving energy.

Smart Card Readers

Analog Devices’ portfolio of smart card interface ICs offer low cost, low power, analog front end for a smart card reader designed for all ISO 7816, EMV*, and GSM11-11 applications. Supporting 5 V, 3 V, and 1.8 V smart cards, they also provide an option for ultralow stop-mode power consumption.

UARTs

Analog Devices provides the industry’s smallest and most advanced family of SPI/I²C (I²C) UARTs. Our UART family includes single-, dual-, or quad-channel options, along with UARTs that integrate RS-232 or RS-485 transceivers. These products are optimized to handle many different communication protocols for use in both industrial and mobile applications. ADI's UARTs are perfect for applications where additional input/output resources are needed in a design. Our UARTs feature SPI and I²C interfaces, allowing you to add communication channels through an already existing I²C or SPI bus. This is commonly known as UART bridge functionality.

USB Controllers

Analog Devices’ wide range of USB products enable the high signal integrity and broad interoperability needed to solve key data and power requirements when implementing USB interface connections. USB controllers use a simple 3- or 4-wire SPI interface to allow any microprocessor, DSP, or ASIC to become a USB peripheral or USB host.
