Today, voltage-regulator circuits are pincipally used in power supplies for decreased output impedance and ripple, and improved stability. However, the low cost and excellent performance of the new monolithic regulators, together with their ease of use and small size, bring them face-to-face with the Zener diode for applications that require constant voltage in analog circuits.
