The ADSP-1401 Program Sequencer and the ADSP-1410 Address Generator are members of a second-generation family of microcoded 16-bit building-block devices. They make possible high-performance, relatively compact fast arithmetic processors (i.e., number crunchers), using fixed- or floating-point mutlipliers and ALUs (arithmetic/logic units), to execute algorithms for digital filters, FFTs (fast Fourier transforms), and matrix operations in "real time."
