Industrial Automated Control Systems : Securing Data at the Edge

    Feb 9 2023

Industrial automated control systems (IACS) including critical infrastructure such as power grid, water distribution or sewage are subject to cyber-attacks daily.

Since the Stuxnet days, many initiatives aimed at making industrial automated systems more secure have been launched. Among them, IEC 62443 standard is probably the one with the strongest impact on new IACS system design.

One may intuitively think that the priority is to secure the decision points such as control rooms, servers, and gateways. However, this presentation will explain how important it is to secure information at the edge and how to implement security in IACS components that are often constrained in terms of computing resources or power budget.
