Can I exceed the parameters specified in the absolute maximum ratings table?

No. Exceeding the absolute maximum ratings may cause permanent damage to the device. The absolute maximum is the stress point, thus the maximum rating for the device. The functional operating range of a device is usually specified at levels that are lower than those indicated as the absolute maximums. Please refer to the data sheet for the normal operating range for a device. Note that exposure to the absolute maximum ratings for extended periods may affect the long term reliability of a device.
