Question:Are the LEDs ports also bidirectional like the other signals ports? For example, can I pass the signal from 0LED1/ 0LED2 to LED0 port, not as described at data sheet- from LED0 to 0LED1/ 0LED2? Answer:Yes, the MAX4892E LED switches are analog switches that pass signals equally in …

Can I use the MAX4890E or MAX4892E as a 1000 Base T line breaker? It will be used to simulate a connected/disconnected cable between PC and EthernetSwitch. (1 Gigabit Ethernet) Do I have to use magnetics? What do I have to do, that the signals levels are within MAX4890E …

Hi David1, See the corrected version of the switch connections. The center tap should be connected to GND via AC coupling capacitor. Regards, edo

Hi Edo, yes... that's almost what I want to do. I would suggest to name the RJ45.. RJ45(A), RJ45(B1) and RJ45(B2) - this is clearer on which MAX4890E pins the RJ45 would be connected. The magnets will induce positive and negative voltages. The center tap must therefore …

Hi David1, See the truth table mapping the B1 and B2 mapping to A based on the SEL pin logic. From your description, it appears that you want to switch RJ45(A) and RJ45(B) to RJ45(common o/p). Connect the magnetics not to have a negative voltage given …

Hi Edo, thanks for the reponse... I 'm just wondering, that this ic is for switching LAN signals like (1000Base-T) but there is no example how to connect them. Depending how you connect the magnetics, you will have negativ voltage on the MAX4890E pins. And I want to use …

Hi David1, Please, refer to the datasheet for a possible use case You have to use magnetics if not incorporated in the RJ-45. Not sure that I follow this statement: What do I have to do, that the signals levels are within MAX4890E requirements? See the Max ratings for …

      10. In MAX4891 Is it possible to connect A0 to TRD0_N  and A1 to TRD0_P?

        Docs & FAQs
        Switches/Multiplexers
Yes, Changing the connection of the pairs are possible. The signal lines on ethernet phy block all have the same voltage swing from 0 to the positive supply (i.e. 0V to 3.3V).
