        Clock and Timing
        10 June, 2022
I see that the output frequency can be set using Rset in the datasheet, but the specific words are "Rset programs the LTC6992's internal oscillator frequency" Does this allow for the frequency to be tuned while running i.e. or adjusted on the fly? Or rather just set and …

… and my measurements confirm) that the LTC6992 requires more power than the LTC1098 (@5V). Approximately 0.5mW for the LTC1098 and 1.75mW for each LTC6992. Now I am searching for possible explanations. Are the two chips are manufactured in different technology nodes? Is it because the LTC6992 is not …

Hello! Recently I was working on a Class D power amplifier. I learned that the LTC6992 is a PWM modulator. I use the LTC6992 as a modulator for Class D amplifiers. However, when the Class D amplifier is connected to the load, the PWM waveform of the LTC6992 changes, and …

… sure what the "correct width" is - could you clarify? Here I have attached an image showing the output of the LTC6992 - the purple pulse is about 71ns wide - the yellow is the signal going to the MOSFET gate (after the driver). Shown below is the LTC6992 part of the schematic.

Hi Tonglei, Apologizes for the delayed response. The SET pin is sensitive the leakages and disturbances. The capacitance on the SET pin to GND and DIV pin to GND should be less than 10pf. I recommend separate voltage divider source for MOD input. Thanks, Emrecan

Thank you for the information. I think that changing the ramp profile or using the 6992-4 (with some disable circuit) is the way to go to prevent the very short pulses.

My minimum PWM duty cycle is 0%. On reflection, I suppose it makes perfect sense to have very short pulses because of this. Using the -4 is a perfectly valid idea, I can still get 100% PWM, and it would only require a small tweak to the schematic to disable …
