      1. ADA4817-1ARDZ in a transimpedance amplifier phase shift

        Forum Thread

We use the ADA4817-1ARDZ in a transimpedance amplifier. The TIA bandwidth is modest (~100 kHz) but the transimpedance is high, about 10 MV/A. We see differences in the TIA phase shift which appear to depend on the lot number of the ADA4817. What might cause this dependence? Thanks!

Hi David, Your observations sound similar to mine. We don't have ground traces under our pair of feedback resistors so our stray capacitances are higher, but we seem to have at least 0.05 pF of feedback capacitance we can't explain by layout or SMT resistor strays. We …

Hi Bernard, Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I'm possibly limited by inherent feedback capacitance of the ADA4817-1ACPZ in a similar high-gain transimpedance amplifier as well (ADA4817-1 output -> inverting input capacitance), but any equalization techniques would require manual tuning if the capacitance varies …

Hello Jino, thank you for the response. The top graph shows the waveforms we see for amplifiers from four different ADA4817 lots. Our test light source is a laser with triangle-wave modulation at 10 kHz. Our amplifier uses the ADA4817 in a standard TIA, with the TIA feedback resistor …

Hi Bernard, How large is the difference? The response of ADA4817-1ARDZ should exhibit the same performance independent of the lot ID, as you mentioned. Could you provide screenshots or details of the problem you have encountered? Regards.

Hi and thank you for the feedback I tested the ADA4807-1ARJZ and it worked just fine. The same footprint did not require a new layout. I appreciate the feedback from you all, thank you Regards Konta
