Abstract

Cable access is evolving at a rapid pace to keep up withconsumers’ thirst for bandwidth. With the advent ofFull-Duplex DOCSIS (FDX), multiple-system operators(MSOs) are struggling to find solutions which willallow them to add functionality and features whilemaintaining system performance as measured bymodulation error ratio (MER) and bit error ratio (BER)and also improving power efficiency (or staying withintheir power limitations). To support such needs, anopen-loop cable digital predistortion (DPD) systemis described in this paper, where MER and BERimprovements are demonstrated, as well as a 24%efficiency improvement on power.
