The AD8390 high output current - low power consumption amplifier is particularly well suited for the Central Office driver interface in Digital Subscriber Line systems such as ADSL, SDSL and VDSL. The driver is capable, in full bias operation, of providing 24.4dBm output power into low resistance loads, enough to power a 20.4dBm line, while compensating for losses due to hybrid insertion and back termination resistors.
Four power modes controlled by two digital bits allow the driver bias current to be varied so as to be capable of full performance output 'keep alive state', or two intermediate bias states. Additional bias flexibility is provided from the Iadj pin, which allows fine quiescent current trimming to tailor the performance of the AD8390.
The low power consumption, high output current, high output voltage swing and robust efficient packaging enable the AD8390 to be used as the Central Office (CO) terminal driver in ADSL, VDSL and proprietary xDSL systems.
