The AD7175-2 is a low noise, fast settling, multiplexed, 2-/4- channel (fully/pseudo differential) Σ-Δ analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for low bandwidth inputs. It has a maximum channel scan rate of 50 kSPS (20 µs) for fully settled data. The output data rates range from 5 SPS to 250 kSPS.
The AD7175-2 integrates key analog and digital signal conditioning blocks to allow users to configure an individual setup for each analog input channel in use. Each feature can be user selected on a per channel basis. Integrated true rail-to-rail buffers on the analog inputs and external reference inputs provide easy to drive high impedance inputs. The precision 2.5 V low drift (2 ppm/°C) band gap internal reference (with output reference buffer) adds embedded functionality to reduce external component count.
The digital filter allows simultaneous 50 Hz/60 Hz rejection at 27.27 SPS output data rate. The user can switch between different filter options according to the demands of each channel in the application. The ADC automatically switches through each selected channel. Further digital processing functions include offset and gain calibration registers, configurable on a per channel basis.
The device operates with a 5 V AVDD1, or ±2.5 V AVDD1/AVSS, and 2 V to 5 V AVDD2 and IOVDD supplies. The specified operating temperature range is −40°C to +105°C. The AD7175-2 is in a 24-lead TSSOP package.

The AD7176-2 is a fast settling, highly accurate, high resolution, multiplexed Σ-Δ analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for low bandwidth input signals. Its inputs can be configured as two fully differential or four pseudo differential inputs via the integrated crosspoint multiplexer. An integrated precision, 2.5 V, low drift (2 ppm/°C), band gap internal reference (with an output reference buffer) adds functionality and reduces the external component count.
The maximum channel scan data rate is 50 kSPS/channel (settling time of 20 µs), resulting in fully settled data with 17 noise free bits. User-selectable output data rates range from 5 SPS to 250 kSPS. The resolution increases at lower speeds.
The AD7176-2 offers three key digital filters. The fast settling sinc5 + sinc1 filter maximizes the channel scan rate. The sinc3 filter maximizes the resolution for single-channel, low speed applications. For 50 Hz and 60 Hz environments, the AD7176-2 specific filter minimizes the settling times or maximizes the rejection of the line frequency. These enhanced filters enable simultaneous 50 Hz and 60 Hz rejection with a 27 SPS output data rate (with a settling time of 36 ms).
System offset and gain errors can be corrected on a per channel basis. This per channel configurability extends to the output data rate used for each channel when using a sinc5 + sinc1 filter. All switching of the crosspoint multiplexer is controlled by the ADC and can be configured to automatically control an external multiplexer via the GPIO pins.
The specified operating temperature range is −40°C to +105°C. The AD7176-2 is housed in a 24-lead TSSOP package.

The Core ADC
The AD7175x core ADC has established new standards in both the speed and noise performance. A maximum output data rate of 250 kSPS (this is 20us¦50 kSPS per channel muxed) is achieved, while delivering greater than 24 noise free bits in the sub 1kHz output data rate (32-bit: AD7177-2 ADC). These performance metrics are achieved in a power efficient manner with other family members offering a pin-pin and software compatible path to lower power as desired.

Integrated Analog Blocks
The degree of signal chain integration on the AD717x family reduces the challenge for the system designer and greatly simplifies design. The inclusion of true rail to rail analog input buffers eliminate the need for time consuming and difficult external component selection and evaluation. The AD717x rail to rail buffers maximize the input range in any applications and allow the ADC to measure all the way to both rails without degradation in linearity or accuracy. As both the input stage and the full ADC path is chopped the 1/f noise of the measurement path is reduced allowing higher sensitivity for measuring signals at or close to DC.

Integrated Digital Blocks
Integrated digital blocks allow platform designs be re-purposed easily to suit particular measurement need. The highly configurable digital filter enables tuning of settling times, bandwidth and rejection of specific interferers. The cross point multiplexer combined with intelligent and per channel configurable sequencer creates the sense that you are deploying/employing an ADC per channel. The degree of functionality integrated in the AD717x family makes implementing both on-chip and system diagnostics easier, while the improved robust SPI port including CRC error detection results in higher confidence and fidelity between the ADC and uC / DSP / CPU when using any member of the AD717x family.

All generics come with a fully featured customer evaluation board with options for analog preconditioning prototyping i.e. amplifiers, reference, a full power solution. There are multiple connectivity options for evaluating with the SDP-B controller board or alternatively as in standalone operation connecting to your existing digital host module or alternatively to the latest evaluation kits for microcontrollers, DSP or PMOD connector controllers.
Application specific CFTLs with availability can kick start your system level developments reducing risk, and give you a less expensive prototyping route.
No-OS example C-code drivers ease translation from our device datasheets into firmware configuration, control and data readback.
Extensive Toolset and Collateral Available
Designing with the AD717x family is helped by the extensive toolset and collateral available. Eval+ is our next generation customer evaluation software which provides an all in one download enabling a virtual evaluation via embedded functional model before moving to silicon evaluation with a fully featured customer evaluation board.
