Evaluation Kits

eval board
EVAL-ADE9178

Features and Benefits

  • Fully featured evaluation kit (EV kit) board for the ADE9178 and ADE9113 chipset
  • Up to 32 A current measurement with on-board shunts
  • Up to 240 VRMS nominal line neutral voltage measurement
  • CLI to read/write registers
  • GUI to read/write registers

Product Details

The ADE9178EVKIT# EV kit board allows the performance of the ADE9178 alongside the ADE9113 analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) to be evaluated. With the inclusion of the resistor ladder network and shunts, this ADE9178EVKIT# EV kit board allows for easy setup procedure due to the fact that no external components are needed.

The ADE9178EVKIT# EV kit board comes preprogrammed with software including a command line interface (CLI) tool to communicate with the EV kit over serial and a graphical user interface (GUI). The CLI and GUI tools provide access to the part registers for board calibration and calibration frequency (CF) pulse generation. For more details on how to use the CLI/GUI and access the detailed software guide, see the Evaluation Board Software section.

Full specifications on the ADE9178 and ADE91xx are available in the ADE9178 and ADE91xx data sheet, respectively, available from Analog Devices, Inc., and must be consulted with this user guide when using the ADE9178EVKIT# EV kit board.

EVAL-ADE9113

Evaluation Board for the ADE9113 Isolated Sigma Delta ADC with SPI

Features and Benefits

  • Full featured evaluation board for the ADE9103, ADE9112, and ADE9113
  • PC control in conjunction with the system demonstration platform (EVAL-SDP-CB1Z)
  • PC software for control and data analysis (time and frequency domain)
  • Standalone capability

Product Details

The EVAL-ADE9113KTZ evaluation kit includes two boards that work together (along with the EVAL-SDP-CB1Z) to evaluate the performance of the ADE9113 isolated Σ-Δ analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in a context close to an actual 3-phase meter implementation. Although this kit can also be used to test the similar functionality of the ADE9103 and ADE9112 ADC, the EVAL-ADE9113KTZ is populated with only ADE9113 devices and thus only the ADE9113 is referred to in this user guide. Evaluation software, written in LabVIEW®, provides access to the registers of every ADE9113 using a PC interface. Additionally, the microcontroller unit (MCU) adapter board is compatible with an Arduino® shield type connector, allowing custom firmware development or use of the reference code with the Nucleo-F103RB.

Product Details

The AD-ACEVSECRDSET-SL is a complete Type 2 EVSE 3.6 kW charging cable solution, providing a reference design intended for evaluation and prototyping of electric vehicle (EV) charging systems.

The system includes a 3-channel isolated sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) ADC for voltage and current measurement on the single-phase power input and measurement of the relay voltage for solder contacts detection and relay state of health. Safe operation is enabled by the inclusion of a 6 mA DC / 30 mA rms RCD. Detection of overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, overtemperature and EV diode presence is also available.

A MAX32655 low-power, ARM® Cortex®-M4 Microcontroller implements the logic for system control and communication with the EV over the control pilot interface. A programming and debugging interface are included. The MAX32655 Bluetooth 5.2 interface enables connectivity to external devices.

The design is accompanied by an open-source software stack and reference applications, enabling custom software development to start from a proven implementation validated to meet the applicable standards. An external programmer such as the MAX32625PICO MAXDAP Programming Adapter, or any other similar programmer supporting the SWD interface, is required to enable firmware programming and debug.

The system is designed to comply with the IEC61851 and IEC62752 standards.

Product Details

The AD-ACEVSE22KWZ-KIT is a reference design for the metrology subsystem plus selected other features of a level 2, 7 kW to 22 kW AC electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). It includes the ADE9113 isolated Σ-Δ analog-to-digital converter (ADC) coupled with the ADE9178 metrology DSP to accurately measure energy delivered to an electric vehicle (EV). It includes the MAX32672 ultralow- power ARM® Cortex®-M4 processor, a cost-effective, highly integrated, and highly reliable 32-bit microcontroller to accumulate energy measurements and securely send it to a host for display. A charge control state machine is run on the microcontroller to transition through different charge states when a charging plug is inserted into an electric vehicle. The kit includes a flexible printed circuit (FPC) connector and LCD to read the energy measurements and state transitions during a charging cycle. The power input/output, control pilot (CP), and proximity pilot (PP) signals are exposed on connectors at the edge of the board. The energy delivered to the EV is measured as a voltage drop across shunts and a resistor ladder network, which makes it easy to set up the boards in the field.
